Springfield U.S.A. is like a brightly-painted beacon between the modernist architecture of Men in Black and the art deco Hollywood. The setting of the long-running animated sitcom The Simpsons, Springfield started as just The Simpsons Ride and Kwik-E-Mart store but was hugely expanded in 2013, with a fabulous re-creation of Moe’s Tavern, Fast Food Boulevard, and plenty of cartoon landmarks. Guests can pose with a statuesque (e.g. a statue of) Chief Wiggum, Duffman, or the Jebediah Springfield statue ("A Noble Spirit Embiggens the Smallest Man"). Springfield, which as long been a de facto land unto itself but was still wedded to World Expo on park maps, officially gained its independence in 2016, in the theme park’s little-noticed answer to Brexit.
