ATMs and Banking Services
Universal Studios Florida once had a full-service bank inside its gates, but today banking at Universal Orlando is limited to ATMs, which are marked on the park maps. There are a half-dozen ATMs in each park, plus three in CityWalk and one in each hotel. Most major banking networks are accepted.
The closest full-service bank to Universal Orlando is the Regions Bank at the corner of Kirkman Road and Vineland Road (5401 S. Kirkman Rd, Orlando FL 32819).

Checks
Universal Orlando only accepts personal checks that are pre-printed, drawn on U.S. banks, and for the exact amount of the purchase, and only at the front gate. Valid photo ID is required, and your check will be submitted to an online verification system. Traveler's checks in U.S. currency are accepted throughout the resort, but must be signed by the bearer in front of cashier, and be presented with photo ID.
Business checks, cashier's checks, and school checks are only accepted if they are drawn on U.S. banks, pre-printed, made out for the exact amount of purchase, and presented with photo ID.
Credit Cards
American Express, Diners Club, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa are accepted throughout the Universal Orlando Resort. The hotels also accept Japanese Credit Bureau (JCB) and Carte Blanche.
American Express is the “official card of Universal Orlando” and members get several discounts and perks, including access to a private American Express VIP Lounge hidden behind the Classic Monsters Cafe near the front of Universal Studios Florida; look for the door to the left of the Shrek meet & greet. Inside you'll find free bottled water, potato chips and granola bars, and smartphone charging stations, as well as A/C and a respite from the crowds. There's also a full-time concierge inside to assist you with information or reservations. The lounge is open daily from noon to 5 p.m., and up to 6 people can enter per American Express card. Technically, you must have purchased your Universal admission (park-to-park tickets or annual pass) with your American Express, but we have only ever been asked to show our admission and AmEx card, not receipts. For additional details and current discounts, visit Universal Orlando's AmEx offers webpage.
Currency Exchange
Exchange your euros, krones, or zloty for good old American greenbacks (the only form of cash accepted at Universal Orlando) at either theme park's Guest Services window, or at any hotel front desk. There may be a daily limit on how much you can exchange (around $500) and a nominal transaction surcharge applies.
Wizarding Bank Notes
After decades of watching Disney literally mint money with their Disney Dollars (which were discontinued in 2016), Universal got into the currency game with Gringotts Wizarding Bank Notes. Available exclusively at the Gringotts Money Exchange shop in USF's Diagon Alley, these handsome bills are available in $10 or $20 denominations, and there is no extra fee to exchange your Muggle money for some magical moolah.
The bank notes can be redeemed virtually anywhere on Universal Orlando property (even for valet parking) at a one-for-one exchange rate. While you won't lose any money on Wizarding currency as long as you spend it before leaving the resort, most guests (intentionally or unintentionally) take them home as souvenirs, making a healthy profit for Universal's goblin accountants.
Sales Tax
A combined state and local sales tax of 6.5% applies to all purchases made at Universal Orlando. Hotels also charge a 6% Orange County occupancy tax, for a total of 12.5%. All prices listed on this site are before tax, unless otherwise noted.
Universal Pay
Universal Orlando visitors can make use of a contactless payment system called Universal Pay. The service is available in the official Universal Orlando app where users can store credit and debt cards in a "Wallet." After entering payment information, a QR code is used to pay for purchases in any of the Universal-owned shops in the parks, resorts, or at CityWalk.
