Pixar Place Hotel Information: Rooms, Pools, Dining, and More

Pixar Place Hotel is the cheapest option of the three official Disneyland Resort Hotels.Guest rooms and public areas are adorned with art from various Pixar films, but the hotel is not extravagantly themed. The rooms are large and have some nice Pixar touches to them, including a working Luxo Jr. lamp. Walking to the monorail station and Downtown Disney takes about 5–10 minutes. The biggest perk is an exclusive entrance into Disney California Adventure.

Guest rooms are furnished with blond wood furniture and boldly-colored soft goods. Pixar Place rooms include accents such as Luxo Jr. table lamps, and Pixar ball pillows. Guest room windows on the hotel’s east side offer a perfect view of the lights and attractions of Pixar Pier and Paradise Garden Park inside DCA. From rooms on the other side of the hotel you can see, well, parking lots. Rates range $300–$600, depending on season and view.

Amenities include a fitness center and an often breezy rooftop pool complete with a waterslide (the view from the top of the slide is killer). Self-parking in Pixar Place’s on-site garage is fast and convenient. Somewhat isolated on the Disneyland Resort property, the hotel is a 14-minute hike to the theme park entrances, farther away than most non-Disney hotels lining Harbor Boulevard on the east side of the resort, if you walk through Downtown Disney. Keep in mind that Pixar Place guests are no longer allowed to cross Disneyland Drive and go through Grand Californian Hotel, but there is an exclusive entrance directly into Disney California Adventure if you're staying at Pixar Place.

Rack rates for the Pixar Place Hotel range from around $300 for a city view in the off-season to more than $600 for a theme park view during holiday periods. The best views can be had from the upper levels of the east side of the building, which overlooks Disney California Adventure. The most lackluster views are the west-facing views.

Parking (which is $40 per a night) is easy at Pixar Place Hotel thanks to a parking structure located steps away from a hotel entrance on the east side of the building.

Early Entry for Pixar Place Hotel Guests

Disneyland or Disney California Adventure offers Early Entry access every day of the week. Early Entry allows Disneyland Resort hotel guests staying at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, Disneyland Hotel, or Pixar Place Hotel in to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure 30 minutes before the parks open to the public. So if a park officially opens at 8:00 a.m., some people will be able to enter at 7:30 a.m. One early entry park is available each day, with Disneyland and DCA alternating.

See our Disneyland Resort Early Entry page for a full list of attractions open during Early Entry.

Exclusive Disney California Adventure Entrance

Pixar Place Hotel guests have access to an exclusive entrance in to Disney California Adventure. This saves the long walk to the front gate, which requires a walk through Downtown Disney.

The entrance is located across the street from Pixar Place Hotel, near the Disney's Grand Californian Hotel sign. This gate can also be used to exit the park. The exclusive entrance enters in to the park near the Goofy's Sky School attraction and Corn Dog Castle restaurant.

Pixar Place Hotel History

Disney acquired the independent Pan Pacific hotel just south of the Disneyland hotel in 1997 and changed its name to the Disneyland Pacific hotel. Just before Disney California Adventure opened in 2001, the hotel was rechristened as the Paradise Pier Hotel in recognition of the Paradise Pier district of DCA that the hotel overlooked.

With DCA's Paradise Pier land being a thing of the past (it was rethemed to Pixar Pier in 2018), it wasn't long before Disney announced another name and rebranding for this hotel, bringing us Pixar Place Hotel in 2024.

Where To Check-In, Get Theme Park Tickets, and Make Dining Reservations

A security gate guards the entrance to Pixar Place Hotel's grounds. If you arrive by car, you'll need to provide photo ID at the gate; it's not necessary to provide your reservation number or paperwork. A dedicated parking structure on the west side of the building serves as parking for all guests, even those checking in.

Check-in time at Pixar Place Hotel is 3:00 PM, and check-out time is 11:00 AM. You'll need to provide a government-issued photo ID and credit/debit card when you register.

Get theme park tickets and dining reservations at the Concierge Desk. If you need to check in and obtain theme park tickets, you can save some time in line if one adult gets in line for tickets just after another adult starts the registration process. The Concierge Desk can also make Disney dining reservations, and you can avoid a wait there by making them online prior to arrival.

Pixar Place Hotel Rooms

Guest rooms are furnished with blond wood furniture and boldly-colored soft goods. We like the lamp that is shaped like Mickey Mouse sitting on a lifeguard tower. Windows on the hotel’s east side offer views of the of Pixar Pier and Paradise Garden Park inside DCA. The highest level rooms have decent views of the park's World of Color show, with audio provided from a dedicated channel on the room's TV.

Each Pixar Place Hotel room is furnished with the following:

  • One king-size bed or 2 queen-size beds
  • Dresser with 4 drawers
  • Desk with 1 chair
  • Nightstand with telephone and digital alarm clock
  • Full-length mirror (on closet door)
  • WiFi wireless Internet access
  • Flat-panel TV
  • Mini-fridge
  • Coffee Maker
  • Ironing board and iron
  • Hair dryer
  • Digital thermostat
  • In-room safe
  • Tiny bottle of shampoo, and soap

The mini-fridge is a dorm-style unit that sits under a counter or desk. It's more like a beverage chiller than a refrigerator in that it'll keep drinks cool, but you're not going to freeze popsicles or make ice cubes in it. Every room in Pixar Place Hotel has a coffee maker.

Entertainment center, dresser, and mini fridge.

The bathrooms include a sink a good amount of shelf space. Water pressure in the shower is good. A 1500-watt, wall-mounted hair dryer is provided, but it's not very powerful; bring your own if you've got lots of hair.

Handicap-Accessible Room Options

Pixar Place Hotel has rooms available with various accessibility options. Some feature roll-in showers, while others include assistive hearing devices.

Standard View Rooms, and Premium View Rooms

Disney knows that some hotel rooms are better than others. Most people want something pretty to look at from their hotel room window. To capitalize on this, Disney categorizes all of Pixar Place Hotel's rooms based on what you see from inside the room.

Here's the system Disney uses:

  • A Standard View room may look out on to a parking lot or one of the neighborhoods next to the Disneyland Resort.
  • A Premium View room has views of Disney California Adventure theme park.

Pixar Place Hotel Pool

Pixar Place Hotel's pool has a water slide called Crush’s Surfin’ Slide, which is themed after the characters from Finding Nemo. Other than that it's a basic rectangular pool.

Pixar Place Hotel's pools range in depth from around 3 feet 6 inches/1.1m to 4 feet 9 inches/1.4m. Pixar Place Hotel's pools are open every day, including during winter. Pools are heated to 82°F/28°C throughout the year. We've swum in temperatures as cold as 40°F/4°C; the water was fine, but getting out was a shock. Pixar Place Hotel also has a hot tub near in the pool complex.

Pool hours are at least 9AM to 9 PM, extending to as much as 8 AM to 12 AM during busy times. Lifeguards are on duty during the pools' operating hours.

Infants and children in diapers are welcome the Pixar Place Hotel pools, as long as they're wearing swim diapers. Water wings are allowed at all Disney pools, and every pool has free life vests in a variety of sizes.

Wheelchair Accessibility at Pixar Place Hotel's Pools

Pixar Place Hotel's Pool has a chair-lift device that can lower guests in wheelchairs into the shallow end of the pool. Check with any lifeguard for assistance on using the lift.

Getting to the theme parks and Downtown Disney

All Disneyland Resort theme parks, hotels, and Downtown Disney can be accessed with a short walk from any Pixar Place Hotel room. The walk from Pixar Place Hotel to Disneyland or Disney California Adventure usually takes about 15 minutes, depending on how fast you walk. Another option is to take the Disneyland Monorail. Guests who catch the monorail at Downtown Disney will be dropped off at the Tomorrowland Monorail Station.
