Summary
O’Gills is the Fantasy’s sports bar, located off one side of La Piazza. Ostensibly themed as an Irish pub, the effects – Irish music and liberal use of four-leaf clovers - are minimal; with a CD, some paint, antique-store scavenging, and the right “Beer of the Month” subscription, O’Gills could pass as a Chicago-, Green Bay- or Dallas-themed bar. This makes O’Gills one of the least visually interesting bars in Europa.
As a generic sports bar, however, O’Gills isn’t bad. Its centerpiece is a huge high-def video screen in the back corner, which shows sporting events and sports news all day long. Several other smaller screens are distributed throughout the room, and there’s plenty of seat and standing room.
O’Gills bar menu includes bottled and draft beer, including its own unique draft lager and several Irish beers. Wine is available by the glass and bottle, and the friendly bartenders can mix up any cocktail you name. The bar menu’s specialty is Irish whiskey and scotch; an Irish cream liqueur is on the menu, too, and is often mixed with other spirits to create O’Gills signature drinks. Try the Royal Velvet, a mix of Guinness stout and champagne.
Comparing the Ships
O’Gills is the name Disney's using for its Irish-themed bars – another O'Gills is found on the Magic. As a sports bar, however, it’s similar to 687 on the Dream and Diversions on the Wonder. Despite the unique bar menu, we like 687, O'Gills on the Magic, and Diversions better because of the better sight lines to the television screens from the seats.
